Couplers are used on the end of the hoses of any powered attachment and couple to your machines hydraulics. The idea is to have a coupler that is fast, easy, and does not leak even though you tend to abuse them.
On most machines made prior toPioneer style couplers are used. Pioneer couplers have also been used on older tractor equipment. If you're comparing Pioneer couplers to the newer style of flat-faced couplers, it's easy to distinguish between the two. There are of course exceptions. For example, Thomas used the pioneer style until And Case has been known to do things differently. When it comes to off-shore brands: who knows? At Skid Steer Solutions, we do sell adapters, so if you do have flat-faced couplers and an older attachment, we have a solution so you can get to work.
On most machines made aftermodern flat faced couplers are used. When we and most other experts in the industry talk about size, we are referring to the internal port size; not the measurement across the entire face.
The common style is a Parker FE style. Case has used a Parker FF style and even though they look similar, they will not fit. We as well as the manufacturers that supply us, factor this into the price of the attachment to make things simple. Visit our Hydraulic Couplers page for detailed pictures and descriptions of each type of coupler or if you'd like to purchase. This is by far one of the most common question we are asked here.
For a more in-depth explanation of how your skid steer loaders auxiliary hydraulics work, and to learn some tips on how to keep them out of harms way, please refer to the two videos below.
Once you've checked out the videos and have become an auxiliary hydraulic expert, then continue reading additional information below to help you understand the important aspects about buying and installing your skid steer attachments. The origin of the Universal Quick Tach lies with the Bobcat. Bobcat Company not affiliated with Skid Steer Solutions created an easy method to connect and disconnect attachments easily.
This method was copied by other manufacturers, but not fully because Bobcat held a patent. Because of this patent, all companies created their own connection methods so attachments made for one manufacturer would not fit others. This has been a shortcoming in the industry because if you changed machines, you would have to adapt your machine to all of your attachments.
After the patent expired inmost of the manufacturers got together and started making the Bobcat style Quick Tach available on their machines.
Because we could now sell our attachments to more than one manufacturers' customers. When looking at the quick tach, machines may appear different, but the dimensions should be about the same.
Shown above is a Bobcat Quick Tach for your learning purposes. Your Quick Tach should be similar in design. Your pins may extrude out the bottom at different points and our attachments seen on our site allow for that. Check the pin out slot measurements and compare them to yours if you are not sure. If your machine is older and doesn't use a modern quick attach, your going to want to make a universal quick attach replacement product your next purchase. The general width of a modern quick tach measures 44" from the outside to outside.Unique Tri-Cool design resists debris buildup and employs large coolers for standout performance in severe, high-load conditions.
Add a reversible fan in high-debris applications for quick core cleanout. Larger entryways with swing-out doors make it easier to get in, get comfortable, and get on with it.

This system is what powers the attachments that require hydraulic flow and can run anything from a snow blade to a brush mower. Hydraulic systems vary greatly depending on machine. Thankfully most machines use a similar set up, so compatibility is usually not a problem. Some of our attachments do require a certain amount of flow to operate. Our web site has helpful information regarding flow compatibility.
Varying from 8 to 23 gallons per minute depending on the machine, standard flow hydraulics will run most attachments and are included on virtually every machine made. Most use a flat faced coupler system that fits to our standard factory installed couplers. If in the rare instance your machine has dimple style Pioneer or flat faced Parker couplers, please contact us for fitment.
High flow hydraulics range from 20 to 45 gallons per minute. The high flow range is usually an option that can be added at the time of purchase, but it can also be added later in the life of the machine.
There are 2 types of high flow hydraulics… single and dual stage. Single stage high flow machines use the same lines and couplers as the standard flow, while dual stage high flow uses completely separate lines and has a different set of couplers for high flow on the outside of the machine. The single stage machine controls high flow with a switch in the cab while dual stage simply works by attaching the appropriate couplers. Below is an example of a dual stage high flow hydraulic system with the attachment control system.
If you have a dual stage system and want to run high flow, please let us know your make of machine to ensure we send you the proper couplers. Here is a single stage system with high flow and the attachment control system.
Notice how it only has one set of couplers. The attachment control system is also an option on most machines and allows additional electric over hydraulic functions. Some attachments like the snowblower, for example, require a switch to divert hydraulic flow to additional cylinders for chute rotation and deflection. If your machine is not equipped with the attachment control system, no worries!
We offer a universal pistol grip pictured below that you simply bring into the cab with you to operate the additional functions. The Case drain coupler is used on some, but not all high flow attachments to help lubricate the motor and keep the temperature down.
If your machine has high flow but does not have a case drain, not a problem. We can accommodate you on all of our high flow attachments. For more fitment information use the " Your Machine " section on our web site to locate your make and model.

Always been an issue? Sudden onset? Gradual onset? Any extra hydraulic loads added or any work ever been performed on the hydraulics? Looks like an open center gear pump so that eliminates the usual closed center leak problems.
Try a pressure gauge on the pump outlet. There should only be just a few psi when no hydraulic functions are being used. Problem come on all of a sudden, there has been no work done on the hydraulics. Those loaders are known for having really poor gauge and light boards. I have a series 2, a great loader, but it is on its 3rd board. This also why you hardly ever see a high hour one of these. The hour meter is part of that board, and every time it gets replaced, your loader starts over at 0.
Excellent point. Another thing to check is to make sure all functions all really in nuetral. Ive seen a 3rd or aux hyd function spool or control lever actually get stuck in an on position and deadhead, causing the oil to heat quickly. Are you positive its really overheating? My Series II did that and all that was wrong was a bad hydraulic sensor I replaced. That was a common issue with them. It takes a few minutes for the light to come on.
Is it common for the light to come on shortly after it running if the sensor is bad? All times are GMT - 8 Hours. Fast Shipping! Most of our stocked parts ship within 24 hours M-Th.
